Hey Sistas, so as I am getting closer to my due date I have been asking around and researching some foods I should be eating while I am nursing. With my first baby I did not do the greatest job with my eating at the beginning. I just remember being so hungry I was like a garbage disposal. I think one day I ate a like a dozen cookies! This time around I want to be healthier for me and my baby. The biggest part of doing that for me is having healthy snacks on hand and ready to eat. I probably won’t be making any big healthy meals for a while and I like snacky foods anyways. There are a lot of options and opinions out there but I have compiled a list of the top 10 foods that are best for me and hopefully some of them come in handy to you. They are convenient and easy to find at the grocery store. They are suppose to help boost your milk supply while your nursing you little one so we will see if I have some good results.
- Almonds: Natural almonds is what I am going to buy.
- String cheese: I love the Frigo Cheeseheads string cheese, I always keep it around the house.
- Dried fruit: I have heard especially pineapple is great. But I know acidic fruit hurt my first ones belly if I ate to much so I’ll be cautious.
- Apples: Granny smith are my fav.
- Protein bars: I love protein bars because they are easy and quick but be careful when choosing yours because they can have lots of sugars.
- Hummus and veggies: I am for sure am staying away from any spicy hummus. Just plain old hummus is what I am going to have on hand.
- Protein granola balls: These things are so delicious and they taste like they’re dessert. I probably will need to limit myself on these because I can eat so much of them. I have started to make these a lot and will freeze a bunch of them before the baby gets here.

- Shake mix: Find a healthy shake mix that you like and that gets you a lot of nutrients.
- Hard boiled eggs: I love having these ready to go in the fridge for quick snacks.
As always the huge one is WATER. I am going to make sure I always have a water bottle on hand and that I am drinking plenty. I think these 10 foods will not only help me feel healthy but also help with my milk production. Enjoy!
