You don’t have to break the bank in order to have a wonderful Valentine’s Day with your special someone! Here are some fun, inexpensive ways to make the day memorable.
1. DIY chocolate fondue
All you need is a candle stand, heat safe bowl, skewers, candle, and plate to go underneath. There are several easy DIY fondue recipes online. Here is one I found that only requires two ingredients: http://www.recipe.com/quick-and-easy-chocolate-fondue/. Choose your favorite yummy items to dip like marshmallows, fruit, pretzels, and bite-sized brownies.
2. Staycation
Traveling can be very expensive. Staycations can be just as fun for a fraction of the price. Find an affordable hotel close by and get out of the house for a night. Be spontaneous and find fun new things to do in that area. (TIP: If you book the hotel the night before Valentine’s Day it is usually much cheaper.)
3. Go on a memorable date from the past
Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to remember why you fell in love. Visit where you had your first date, where you first said “I love you”, where you got engaged, or where you got married. It will make you fall in love all over again!
4. Rose petals
Rose petals are a great, inexpensive way to add a little romance. They cost much less than an actual bouquet of roses. You can put some on the ground of the entry way so that your special someone sees them right when they walk in. Have it lead to a gift or the bedroom. If you want to use fresh petals, call local florists to see how much they charge. Most florists save the petals they remove when working on flower arrangements. You can also use silk rose petals which can be found online or at a local store. Make sure to check your local dollar store. Mine had a pack of 300 for $1!
5. Heart attack their car
All you need is construction paper or cardstock, scissors, tape, and a marker. Cut out hearts from the paper and write special messages on some or all of them. Then, tape them all over their car. My husband did this to my car a few years ago on Valentine’s Day while I was at work. When I walked out to my car, I was so excited to see what he had done. It was so cute and made me feel very special! (To make it even easier, you could also use post-it notes instead of the paper hearts and tape.)
Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope it is filled with lots of love! XOXO
