DIY Decorative ORB

DIY Decorative ORB for $5 - Decorative orbs are a beautiful decoration for your home but they can be expensive! Follow this tutorial to make your own for only $5! | www.sincerelyjean.com

I am in love with these decorative orbs that are so in right now. I bought one a couple months ago for my dinning room table for $40! (it was a splurge.) I decided I wanted another one for my entry table but I was not about to spend $40 dollars on another one.  Now, I especially don’t know what I was thinking when I bought my first one because I made this one for $5! That’s right, I made this for $5 and it for-sure wont be the last one I make.

This was seriously the easiest project I think I have ever done. You know with projects how they always take longer then expected? Well not this one! So easy and so fast!

What you will need:

  • Four 12 inch embroidery hoops
  • Any type of stain
  • Tacks

I bought my embroidery hoops at Hobby Lobby. They were 1.99 a piece but I brought my husband so we could each use a 40% off coupon. (Their hoops never go on sale.)  You can also find similar ones HERE on Amazon.

I used Classic Gray wood stain by Minwax, which I already had, you can find it HERE. I loved the color that it turned out! It gave it that rustic feel I was going for.

I already had my gold tacks from the Dollar Tree! Whoop whoop!  You can find similar ones HERE.

Lovely color for the orb and the tacks are just the perfect thing to keep it all together. Pinning this one!

I love it! And the color is just perfect, it’s like a faux metal orb

Thanks Pili! I was going for the metal look but wanted it to be easier and cheaper!

This is sooo great! I’ve seen orbs used as light fixtures a lot lately on HGTV and other home channels. I’m definitely going to try this!!! THANKS!!!

I don’t see where the clasps are on 3 of the 4 hoops. I only see the one hoop with it. I didn’t understand that??
It is a cool idea. I want to make one.

Jan, the other 3 clasp are on the bottom of the orb. The reason you can see them is because the orb is resting on it so it wont roll over. I hope that helps!
