Directions:
Okay, so start by staining your embroidery hoops. I did it in little sections. I slapped on the stain and wiped it off immediately. Do that for all four and then let them sit for a couple of hours to dry and let the fumes die down.
Once dry take 3 of the hoops and insert them one by one into each other making a sphere. Each hoop has a little clasp on it, when your inserting them try and keep all the metal clasp in the same spot (you’ll know what I’m talking about.) Then once you have an even sphere, take the last hoop and place it over the ball. Position it until it is in the middle of the sphere.
Then lastly, take your tacks and anywhere that the hoops cross, stick a tack in it.
You’re DONE! So easy right? When the clasps come together like I explained above, it allows the sphere to rest on it so it wont roll away.

Lovely color for the orb and the tacks are just the perfect thing to keep it all together. Pinning this one!
Thanks Jeanette! It really is my favorite go to color for stain. I’m always happy with the turn out 🙂
I love it! And the color is just perfect, it’s like a faux metal orb
Thanks Pili! I was going for the metal look but wanted it to be easier and cheaper!
This is sooo great! I’ve seen orbs used as light fixtures a lot lately on HGTV and other home channels. I’m definitely going to try this!!! THANKS!!!
What a great idea!! I love this 🙂

Great DIY!! I have a ton of embroidery hoops I picked up thrifting. I think I need some of these! Thanks so much ladies for sharing this pin on the P3 party Board! We loved it and it will be featured on the blog and my social media tomorrow! So look for a little traffic from me!

Thanks so much! We are glad you liked it!
I don’t see where the clasps are on 3 of the 4 hoops. I only see the one hoop with it. I didn’t understand that??
It is a cool idea. I want to make one.
Jan, the other 3 clasp are on the bottom of the orb. The reason you can see them is because the orb is resting on it so it wont roll over. I hope that helps!
You can buy these at Hobby Lobby for 4-10 when on sale for the different sizes
Thanks for sharing Mary!
