Hey sistas!

Today we bring you an easy and cute way to make over any piece of furniture! If you have a piece of furniture that is desperately needing some attention or if you just want to spice it up a bit, try this tutorial!  My husband and I recently inherited an old desk that was begging for some attention. I knew right when I saw it that it had potential. I know I wanted to use my chalk paint recipe. (You can see it below)I love using chalk paint!! It’s so easy and if you use my recipe, it is so much cheaper than buying actual chalk paint because it can get pricey. With chalk paint, you don’t even have to SAND or PRIME! That is why I love it so much. A lot of times I don’t have time to do all the extra stuff. I just want to paint and be done with it. Tip: When you first put the chalk paint on, it usually looks a little gritty but it dries smooth. Here is the picture of what the desk looked like before:

Good bones but the color needed a makeover!

For this desk, because it was so old and had a lot of dirt and stains on it, I decided to sand it. It only helps with the adhesion of paint if you feel like sanding. So first step is to mix up the chalk paint.

I like your color choice on this one. Thanks for the recipe for homemade chalk paint. I’ve never used it, and I wasn’t sure of the luxury of it. I’ve seen it on so many blogs. I had no idea you didn’t need to sand or prime when using it. Nice work!

Pinning and visiting from The Crowned Goat Link Party – what a cute idea! Sold a desk like this for $50 about a year ago and am kicking myself right now!!!

Thanks for the chalk recipe! It’s so expensive otherwise. I love the turnout.

I’m on the lookout for a desk. I want to organize a nice, soothing workplace for myself ( I’ll let hubbs use it once or twice ;)).
I don’t know if I’m going vintage, but I sure do love your desk transformation.
And I agree- chalk paint is the best!
