New store bought nursing covers cost about $30 on average. Save yourself some money and make your own for around $5! It’s an easy sewing project and you can choose your own fabric!Supplies:
1) 1 yard of fabric
2) 14 inches of boning
3) 2 D-rings
4) Safety pinDirections:Step 1: Before you start sewing you always want to wash, dry, and iron your fabric. I got my pink and gold chevron fabric from Hobby Lobby (my favorite store!).

4) Safety pinDirections:Step 1: Before you start sewing you always want to wash, dry, and iron your fabric. I got my pink and gold chevron fabric from Hobby Lobby (my favorite store!).
Step 2: Cut a 3-inch strip of fabric from the side and cut into two pieces (a 10-inch piece and a 30-inch piece)
Step 3: I worked on the smaller pieces first which will be your straps. Fold them in half (front of fabric touching) and sew a straight line with a straight stitch. Use the safety pin to flip the fabric right side up. Iron the straps with the seam in the middle of the back.
Step 4: The D-rings go on the smaller strap. Fold the end 1/2″, iron, fold 1″, iron, and insert the D-rings. Sew with a stronger stitch (I used a double overlock stitch). Do the same thing to the longer strap just without adding the D-rings.
Step 5: Now we will work on the larger piece. For the two sides and bottom fold 1/2″, iron, fold another 1/2″, and iron. Sew a straight line with a straight stitch.
Step 6: For the top, fold 1/2″, iron, fold another 1″, and iron. Fold the fabric in half to find the center. Measure 7″ from each side of the center and mark with pins. Sew a straight line with a straight stitch in between the pins. Sew up the seam perpendicular only on one side. Insert the boning and then sew up the seam perpendicular on the other side.
Step 7: Now it is time to attach your straps. The smaller strap with the D-rings goes on the right and the longer strap goes on the left. Insert the strap right side up under the fabric next to the stitch you just completed. Fold up, iron, and pin. Sew a box with a straight stitch to secure the straps.
Step 8 (last step!): Finish the the rest of the top with a straight stitch perpendicular to the strap and then to the end of the fabric. You are done! Hope you had fun! Here is the finished product:
Sincerely,
