DIY Wood Pumpkin Patch

diy wood pumpkin patchHappy Fall Ya’ll! I am so excited for the Fall, it is my favorite season. Even though sometimes here in Vegas it doesn’t quite look like fall yet hehe. I still love it and I love decorating for it.

These little pumpkins that I made are one of my favorite fall decorations to put up. There so easy to make and it reminds me of a little pumpkin patch.

So lets get started:

You will first need a 2×4 piece of wood. You can find them super cheap at Home Depot/Lowes or you can look around your local area and see if any one is giving away wood. You will be surprised of how many people who do give it away. We had left over scraps of a 2×4 so I cut them in three different sizes. I wanted my height staggered. I did one 9.5inches, one 6.5 inches, and one 5 inches. You can have them cut it at Home Depot or Lowes as well. Once I cut them I sanded the edges so it would look smooth and a little bit rounded. Then you find your stems, you can just use any kind of scrap wood if you have any. I used 1/4 x 1.5 x 2 (so 1/4 inch thickness, 1.5 inches width, and 2 inches height.) I personally liked having the stems tall and skinny but you can do whatever dimensions you like.

Then I painted my pumpkins orange and my stems brown and waited. Once dry I sanded all the edges to achieve a distressed look. I did it on my pumpkins and my stems. I even did it over the indentations I made with the saw so they popped out more.

Hot glue your stems in the middle of the top of your pumpkins and your done! So easy and so worth this cute little fall decor. You can dress it up with some burlap and wire to add even more cuteness. I used my go to burlap ribbon you can find here and the green wire here. I wrapped it around a pencil to get the spiral affect.

We hope you enjoy this diy project and happy fall!
