Hey there! So today I am sharing with you my healthy oral care routines. If you don’t already know, my husband is in dental school. When he first started I didn’t know too much about the health of my teeth, just that I needed to brush them every day basically. But having Kai in school has opened up my view to oral health care so much more! We as adults only get one set of teeth! So, we better take care of them, right?
Today, I’m sharing some of my routines that I have learned through the American Dental Association that have really helped with my oral care.
First off, I try and drink a lot of water throughout the day. I always carry a bottle of water with me containing fluoridated water. Water has so many health benefits! The fluoride is good for your teeth and drinking it helps me stay away from sugary beverages and snacks.
Let’s talk brushing teeth! I have always been an avid tooth brusher morning and night with fluoride toothpaste. Have you guys ever noticed what type of toothpaste you use? Does it have the ADA Seal of Acceptance on it? I never knew this existed until I learned about it, and now I only buy toothpaste with the ADA Seal of Acceptance!
It’s sometimes no easy task to get my boys to brush their teeth, haha. Sometimes it becomes a wrestling match. But it’s important to me that my boys practice healthy habits and that they also see me practicing my healthy oral habits. When it’s time to go to the dentist, our office visits go so smooth because of our healthy routines. If you’re not sure what a good routine is, ask your dentist to help you create a personalized one that works for you.
My next one is cleaning between your teeth. This is something that I really have had to work on, and I have become so much better at it. I always carry floss with me in my purse and in my car so that I can clean in-between my teeth each day and a lot of the times it is on the go. My mother-in-law is the queen at flossing! She flosses after almost every meal. She’s a great example!
Oral health care in my opinion is something not to be taken lightly. It affects your entire life! My routines have really helped me develop healthy habits. This has led me to have more confidence in myself and my smile. Talk to your dentist if you have any questions or concerns. Your oral care needs are as unique as you are.
sincerely,
