How To Start A Garden

One of my new years goals was to start a garden. I have always secretly wanted to create one so this year I am doing it. I want to do it right so I met with some nurseries around the area and experts who have amazing gardens already. I feel like I am on track to having a successful garden.

The three main sources that I have learned for growing plants have said to make sure they have nutrients, water, and sun. I am doing raised beds in my backyard so I decided to use Miracle-Gro Raised Bed Soil. I found this at Walmart, before the #stayathome order was issued, and they were pretty big bags which I need. I have heard great things about this soil and I want to make it as easy as possible for me. All the nutrients are already in this soil so I won’t need to add anything to it.

Next we chose some plants. The boys helped me pick out some Bonnie Plants from Walmart, they had so much variety we had fun picking some out and deciding what to grow as a family.

We had to find the best place in our backyard to have the garden because it needs plenty of sunlight. We decided to put it on the side of the house where it could have its own area. I built some raised beds and we are removing all the grass in the area so that the grass doesn’t end up getting into the garden. We are installing a drip system too so that I won’t need to water it manually everyday.

I am so excited to start this little adventure. I think it will be so fun I am so excited to start this little adventure. I think it will be so fun to do as a family. I’ve included the boys a lot in this process and I will continue to do so. I want them to be able to see how nurturing and putting work into something can yield great rewards. Just like in life! There are many lessons that can be taught in the garden and I am excited to experience them with my boys.

sincerely,
