Hey Sistas! I hope you lovely ladies are doing wonderful and that your loving life. When my husband is able to be home in the mornings and not busy with dental school, I love making a family breakfast. The other day I had left over buttermilk so I made these buttermilk waffles and they were life changing! Seriously one of the best waffles I have ever tasted. I don’t know wether it was the waffle itself or the syrup or that I’m pregnant but they were out of this world delicious. They are pretty quick and easy to make also and totally worth it.
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 2 T melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
- pinch of cinnamon (optional)
- Whisk dry ingredients in a bowl.
- Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients only until just combined.
- Pour batter onto hot waffle iron and cook until golden.
Now onto the syrup which I think really makes this waffle taste so amazing. We like to call this syrup Nauvoo syrup. I can and have drank this stuff before! It is that delicious.
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp baking soda
- Combine butter, sugar, and buttermilk and bring to boil.
- Remove from heat and whisk in vanilla and baking soda.
- Use a large pan because it foams up a lot.
Sincerely,
patti jean
