Planks! Gotta love them – what a great core exercise! Core is my favorite type of workout and I am happy to bring you this series.
There are so many reasons to strengthen your core (besides looking fabulous). Your core is your body’s powerhouse and if facilitates movement. It helps you do just about everything. A strong core will help prevent injuries, lessen back pain, and have a good posture.
Here’s the dealio: First, turn on your favorite song! Choose a song that will get you motivated and that has a good beat for your pace. Do each of these 4 moves, in a row, each move getting 8 counts each.
Repeat this sequence five times on one side and then switch sides and repeat 5 times. Do three sets.
1. Start in plank position. Shoulders are over the wrists, neck is neutral, squeeze your glutes, engage your core and your quads.
2. Lift one of your legs, raising the foot.
3. Bend at the knee, bringing your toes toward the sky.
4. Open to a side plank. Push through your palm, open your chest, and reach through your fingertips.
