Hey sistas!
Today I am getting a little personal! I am writing this article specifically for people who desire to have children, but for one reason or another, have not had that opportunity. The ones who do not like going on facebook any more because all they see is babies and pregnancy announcements. I want to let you know that I am right there with ya!
I do not want this article to focus on my current life struggles, but lets just say I want a baby like yesterday! But I have not been blessed with a child yet. Instead, I want this article to inspire you into having peace and patience with this specific issue.
Maybe you are not married yet, maybe your partner does not want kids right now, maybe you are struggling with infertility….The list can go on and on. I wanted to share with you how I am currently handling my situation and how you can handle it too!
- Every time I see a pregnancy announcement, here are the words that I repeat to myself: “I am happy for them. I am happy that I will be blessed with a child in the future. I do not have a child right now, but I will soon.” These sentences help me with a couple of things. It helps me remove jealousy, it helps me accept my current situation, and it helps me have hope and optimism in the future. Here are 2 other quotes that really help me (I summarized the quotes): “Despair deadens the heart. Hope is like the beam of sunlight rising up and above the horizon of our present circumstances. It pierces the darkness with a brilliant dawn.” – D. Uchtdorf. “Accentuate the positive and look a little deeper for the good. Turn from the negativism and look for the remarkable good. Let optimism replace pessimism.” – G. Hinckley
- I hang out with my niece and nephew ALOT! Let me tell you, my niece and nephew are my favorite little people in the entire universe. I always schedule visiting my sisters around my niece and nephew being available to play with. They are so fun! I have seen first hand how difficult it is to be pregnant, be in labor, keep a new born alive, and keep a little child entertained and happy. It is HARD! But I still can’t wait until that’s me!
- I thank God for what I do have in my life. God has blessed me with an amazing life. I have the most incredible husband and I have an amazing career. I get to hang out with my awesome family whenever I want. I can go on and on with all of the blessings that God has given me. It is important to take the time to feel thankful!
- I have tried to relax about my situation. I have tried to reduce my stress levels in my life. I focus on things that I can control, and do my best to excel in those areas in my life.
- 5. I am celebrating Mother’s Day weekend with my dog. I may not have a child yet, but I am a dang good mom to my dog! The joy that a pet can bring into your life is amazing. I have the cutest little dog, Mic. He is an 8 lb. Maltese and I love him to death. I obviously did not give birth to him, but I have raised him since he was a puppy. I give love to him unconditionally, I sleep uncomfortably at night sometimes so that he can lay next to me, I get him a sitter if I leave town, I worry about him, I take him to the doctor, I feed him, I take him to the dog park, I care about his happiness, I take him to family events, I buy dumb things that I know he doesn’t need, I feel bad when I leave him alone for too long, I know what each of his different sounds/barks mean, I buy him countless amounts of toys, I take him to the groomers, I give him baths and wash his face, I brush his teeth, I dress him up on Halloween, I take numerous amounts of picture and selfies with him, I take care of him if he is sick, I play with him, I teach him right from wrong. So this mother’s day weekend I am celebrating that love that I have for my “dog-son” and the love that he has for me. We are going to the dog park and then eating at a dog friendly restaurant.
I hope that this post can encourage you to continue on in optimism and patience! If this specific issue is not something that you are struggling with, I hope that you can take some of my words and relate them to something else that is bothering you. I am putting positive vibes out there for all of our Sincerely Jean sistas!
