Hey Lovelies! So, today I am sharing a family recipe with you guys. The Most Delicious and Easiest Scones Ever! Growing up my mom would make these for our family for special occasions like birthdays, holidays, and general conference. She would always make a big batch of dough. Half would be for her homemade bread and the other half she would use to make these scones. They are one of my favorite things my mom makes and I always feel so happy when I eat them because for one they’re so delicious and for two it always reminds me of my childhood which brings back the best memories.
Just thinking about these makes my mouth water. It’s best to eat them when they have freshly come out of the hot oil. Then you slather it with butter and sprinkle it with powdered sugar. SO not healthy but oh so worth it! I also like strawberry jam and honey with these. I love making this recipe because when I do, I kill two birds with one stone. I make homemade bread out of half of it and then breakfast for my family with the other half. And also because they’re the most delicious and easiest scones ever!
Once your done making your dough you grab handfuls of it it and flatten them into a disk. You place them in hot oil until browned and then you flip it to brown on the other side. Place on paper towel when done to let the access grease come off and serve warm.
The Most Delicious and Easiest Scones Ever
Ingredients
5 C hot water
2/3 C cooking oil
2/3 C honey
4 tsp salt
3 Tbls yeast
6 C wheat flour
5 C white flour
Instructions
Add together water, oil, honey, and salt.
Add wheat flour and mix well.
Add yeast and again mix well.
Add white flour until mixed well and knead until not sticky, about 10 minutes.
After you make the dough, (you don't have to let it rise) Heat a pan full of oil about 1/3 of the pan high.
Grab a ball of dough which ever size you want and pull it into a circular disk shape.
Place the dough in the heated Oil. Keep the oil about medium to medium high.
Cook until you see the edges of the bottom turning brown.
Flip the scone over and keep there for just a little longer. You can't keep lifting the Scone to see if it is the desired color. I like mine a golden brown.
Place on paper towel when done to soak up the excess grease.
Serve warm with butter, powdered sugar, jam, and honey.
